A report was produced from the Nov 2006 seminar on Drug Users Fora. John Bennett (Finglas/Cabra LDTF) and Emily Reaper (UISCE) made a presentation to the NDST on the report. One of their recommendations was to set up an independent national network for drug users fora.
At the NDST meeting, Anna Quigley of Citywide agreed to organise a Steering Group to look at the issue of setting up a national network. The Steering Group will be asked to draw up a plan for a network - what would be involved, what would next steps be, what supports and resources would be needed - and the plan will then be referred to the NDST and CRAGA, so the Steering group has a practical and time-limited job to do. It is hoped that the Steering Group will be made up of representatives from any drugs users fora that are active at the moment and also one or two representatives from the Development Workers network.
The first meeting of the Steering Group is to be held on Tuesday 4th December in Citywide offices, Fairview, Dublin 3. Further details from Citywide: 01 836 50 90
